First of all, I would suggest that you do set up an eBay account in order to create a much easier way to sell through Facebook. Please read the blog on setting up your eBay account here

Selling on Facebook

Nowadays, everyone is using facebook. Facebook passes 1.23 billion monthly active users, 945 million mobile users, and 757 million daily users. So, advertising your business on there is sure to bring you business.. As long as you are doing it right!

Step 1: Make your business Facebook account

If you are using facebook every day for your personal use, it might be useful to make another account purely for business as well. This is so that it is purely business; you won't have to worry about friends tagging you in any embaressing photos or anything that may make you look unprofessional!

Step 2: Make your Facebook page

Now that you have made your Facebook account, you should make a Facebook page. You can have more than 1 page if you want.

Your Facebook Page makes your business:
  • Discoverable: When people search for you on Facebook, they'll be able to find you.
  • Connected: Have one-on-one conversations with your customers, who can like your Page, read your posts and share them with friends, and check in when they visit.
  • Timely: Your Page can help you reach large groups of people frequently, with messages tailored to their needs and interests.
  • Insightful: Analytics on your Page will give you a deeper understanding of your customers and your marketing activities.

First of all, login to your business facebook. Then, find the drop down arrow on the top far right of the blue bar. The drop down window is in image 1. You should select create page, then Brand or Product, and then fill in the simple questions:

After you have done this, the next steps Facebook helps you with. You will have to complete some steps Facebook need you to complete so that your page is ready for action.

Step 3: Making the most of your Facebook page

If you go on Facebook a lot yourself, you will not find it hard to boost your page! You need to fill in as much information about the page as possible. Fill out the basics first. You need to include at the very least contact details, your website, a description and general information. On top of this you need to have a profile picture and a banner! Selecting the correct profile picture Profile pictures are great, as long as the correct image is being portrayed. As this page is dedicated to selling Avon on Facebook, it should be along the lines of your logo, Avon products, beauty etc. It is no good having pictures of flowers if you don't sell flowers. Making a Facebook banner Having trouble finding a banner the correct size for your page? Why not make your very own via Picmonkey collage, simply select all the images you want to insert on the banner (we suggest we include your logo / website on the banner as it's the first thing potential customers will see!) and get creating.

Get a personalised URL for your Facebook page Go to your page > select "Settings" > "Page Info" which is on the left hand side menu > "Facebook Web Address" > press edit

Step 4: getting "likes"

The first step to getting likes is to invite all of your friends. Now, seeing as this is a new page made from a new account, what you would do is sign into your personal account, like your page and then invite your friends from that account to also like it. You can share the page from that account too just to boost up the likes. Secondly, I would suggest you like other peoples groups. By liking someone else's group that is similar to yours and leaving likes and comments on it, they are more than likely to go ahead and check out your page. The key is to get people looking. Join groups and share the page with them! Introduce yourself and tell them all about your business. Let them know what you are offering. Here is an example:

Building up audiences may seem hard in the beginning, but once you have more people talking about it, it attracts it's own likes. Other ways to boost your Avon on Facebook page is by posting often. Whether it's just a quote, a picture, or a blog you have just wrote, by updating the page your existent likers will look again and maybe follow on to buying a product of yours. Advertising your page (£) You can advertise your page to get yourself some more likes, for as little as £3 a day. This advert will be displayed on other users facebook timeline. You can select whether the users are Male, Female, their age ranges and even their interests so that you aren't wasting your well earnt pennies.

Remember: it’s not about the number of likes. It’s more important to genuinely connect with the people you engage with on Facebook. If you do, they’ll help tell your story.

Step 5: Being unique

  • Be authentic: Share what you're genuinely excited about and your customers will be excited too.
  • Be responsive: When people comment on your posts, show that your business is listening and that you care. If you need more time to answer a question, let them know you’re looking into it.
  • Be consistent: The more regularly you post, the more opportunity you have for connecting with people and building trust. Setting a schedule for your posts can also help maximise your team’s time.
  • Do what works: Replicate your success on posts that get more engagement.
  • Make successful posts into successful promotions: When you notice that a post is getting a lot of engagement, promote it to reach even more people. When people like, comment on or share your posts, their friends are also eligible to see those posts in News Feed.

Step 6: Sell, sell, sell!

Now you have got yourself a little following, your page is all set up, and you have followed the steps from the successful eBay selling blog you're ready to start selling! There are many different ways to sell on Facebook. There are dedicated Facebook pages for regular people just like yourself and I to post their odd bits and bobs for sale in the local area. These pages are excellent for you to drop your eBay links to great products, or even just to your eBay profile, for people to see what you are selling. You should be posting these as your page and not as your actual account, as people will then be able to access the page easier and like it within the click of a button. "How do I post as another page?" It's quite simple - when you go to the page you would like to post on, where you would write the message, in the top right hand corner is a flag. This is where you select which group or account you would like to be speaking on behalf of.

Place the eBay links onto your Facebook page so that the people who have liked it get to check out the offers before anyone else.

Promoting your Avon Online Store

Selling on Facebook includes promoting your Avon Online Store. To do this, you should share the link to your store on your page at least once every day.  Not only should you post it on your page, but share it with friends, post it on other Facebook groups, and upload pictures of the deals available from the brochure to pages too. Step 7: Getting repeat sales To get repeat customers, you need to demonstrate absolutely fantastic customer service. Creating a Facebook Group for your online store customers and eBay customers can help them to communicate by asking questions writing and reading reviews etc... see our FaceBook group by visiting us at avon customers community 

Remember the customer is always right! Inform the customers that if they don’t see anything they need or want on eBay, they could always view your Personal Online Store and recieve the same 5* service. Don't forget to share your Ebay selling page on your FB Pages too!

Sometimes, you may come to realise that you have a load of unused, unopened, untouched avon products hiding somewhere in your shed or your loft, and they are simply too old to return.

So, what do you do with them if you can't return them?

I'm sure you'd much prefer them out of your home than sitting pretty in the corner somewhere, collecting dust. Well, over 12 years of business, we've had huge boxes full of free gifts, returns, discontinued products, etc waiting for us to sell Avon on eBay.

Selling Avon on eBay is pretty simple. Here are the steps we took:

Step 1: Create an eBay account purely for your Avon products / business.

We called our eBay account, gailsreps - this is our business name and is associated with Avon products. We like to stay consistant. The reason behind the name is so we can advertise as well as sell Avon through eBay.

When you register on eBay, you have the option of registering as a business. To register as a business, click the start a business account link at the top of the registration page. The process and information required are similar to registering as an individual, with the added advantage of being able to add your business name to your account. See How to register for a step-by-step guide to the registration process.

Registering as a business provides you with an identifiable name and the opportunity to build your reputation as a seller.

Choose a business account if you:

  • Sell items that you have bought to resell.

  • Sell items that you have produced yourself to sell.

  • Sell a large amount of goods on a regular basis.

  • Sell new items that you have bought but not used personally.

  • Sell items as a Trading Assistant.

  • Buy items for your business.

Advantages of a business account

  • Business sellers can register with a company name. That company name will be displayed in all communication with the buyer, such as invoices and emails.

  • Business sellers could be eligible to qualify for a discount on eBay fees.

  • Business sellers can display contact details, and terms and conditions in all of their listings.

  • Business sellers could realise tax advantages if they register as a business.

Step 2: PayPal accounts

If you don't already have a PayPal account, this is the time to make one. This makes transactions so much easier for customers to transfer their money direct to your account. You need to set it up with an email address, so if you don't want it to go to your personal one this is your chance to set up a proffessional Avon email address. We set up a brand new one under "ebay@gailsreps.co.uk".

Step 3: Sort through what you can and can't sell

It will give you a much nicer reputation if you only sell the unopened, undamaged products. If you don't have these, it's not a problem, just make sure you select "New Other" - this way you can write exactly what is wrong with the product in a description box given. Do not sell opened lipsticks!

Step 4: List your products

So now you have your accounts sorted and your products ready to be sold, it's time to list them. Start with the item you have most of. For example, if you have 5 eyeshadows and only 1 cream, sell the eyeshadows first.

eBay really does most of the explaining on how to list your items, I am here to tell you how to sell your items.

  • Include all of the "item specifics" - well, the ones that you know. This helps the buyer determine whether the product is right for them.
  • Only add good quality photos, and more than 1. Take a couple of pictures of the actual product, and also include some from online (proffessional photographs of the item). That way the buyer can see exactly what the product is.
  • Always include as much information in the description as possible. Customer reviews, Avon RRP for the product, articles written about it, etc. Write exactly what the product is about. Here is an example we have for our Mega Effects listing:

  •  Offer FREE P&P. This makes your product stand out from the rest and you get a lovely green ribbon displayed on your listing. Even if you aren't offering free P&P, incoorperate it into the actual pricing and then offer free P&P. For example, you want to sell your mascara for £10, but want £2 for postage. Put it up for a BUY IT NOW of £12, and offer free P&P!

Step 5: sending the items

Now after your hard work listing all of your wonderful products, it's time to say farewell to them and sell them onto the next make up lover. Don't just wack it in the post, make sure to add your personal touch to it. Put in a small letter, saying thanks for their order, and a link to your POB, website, facebook, and other social media sites. Don't forget to add your contact details and also why not ask them to post positive feedback on your eBay account? This boosts your page and lets your future customers see how great you are. Here is our example of the letter:

Step 6: getting repeat customers

To get repeat customers, you need to demonstrate absolutely fantastic customer service. Create a Facebook page for POB customers and eBay customers to communicate together, see ours by clicking here.

Make sure your communication is on point via email whilst the transaction is taking place.

The customer is always right!

Inform the customers that if they don't see anything they need or want on eBay, they could always view your Personal Online Brochure and recieve the same A* service.

On your eBay page, it gives you the option to write your own guides at the bottom of your profile. This is an excellent way to communicate with your online customers by telling them useful things, from what Avon actually is, to how to apply an eyeshadow you are selling. The aim is to tell them about how amazing Avon products are and all the positives of it, also dropping the fact you have those products on sale for a great price.

And don't forget...

The sales you get from eBay doesn't have to stay eBay only. You may sell to people who are local to you coincedentally, (this happens, done it twice now!) - so why not go the extra mile and hand deliver it, with an Avon brochure by your side too?

This incentive is open to all Sales Leaders of LLOA7+ who had a Badge Title of Coordinator or higher at the end of Campaign 15, 2014. Read the Terms of conditions below for more information on this incentive:

Terms and Conditions

  • This incentive runs until the end of Campaign 17 2014. Campaign 15 2014 will be used as the base for measuring Generation one Representative growth.
  • Only Sales Leaders with an LLOA7 (Leadership Length of Association) or higher at Campaign 15 2014 with a Badge Title of Coordinator or higher are eligible to participate in this incentive.
  • Only Sales Leaders that meet the specified Representative growth criteria as detailed on this flyer with a paid commission status of Coordinator or higher at the end of Campaign 17 2014 will be eligible to receive the award.
  • All eligible Sales Leaders will be placed into the group relative to their Badge Title achieved at Campaign 15 2014 and this will determine how much money can be achieved through this
  • programme. Eligible Sales Leader will not be able to achieve at a level higher to their Campaign 15 2014 Badge Title. Similarly Badge Title demotions will not be taken into account for this programme, where an eligible Sales Leader begins the programme is where they will end the programme.
  • The criteria of the incentive is to grow your Generation 1 Representative Team Size by the end of Campaign 17 2014 versus your Generation 1 Representative Team Size from Campaign 15 2014.
  • For the purposes of this incentive, your team consists of Representatives in your Generation 1 who appear on your statement and do not have a ‘REM’ or ‘REM TC’ status
  • Only Representatives within your first generation will be included in the measurement of this incentive. Avon expressly reserves the right to make adjustments for any Team Member within your direct team (first generation) that occurs as a result of the removal of a Downline Sales Leader (“Rolls ups”).
  • The Sales Leader account statement produced and held by Avon is final and will be used to measure the results. Late, additional, held orders or Sales Leader appeals will not be counted.
  • Results will be communicated campaignly via your end of campaign Leadership Tracker.
  • Payments will bemade to successful Sales Leaders’ with their Campaign 17 2014 commission payments and will therefore show on their Campaign 17 2014 statements.
  • In order to be eligible to receive the award successful Sales Leaders must still be Independent Avon Sales Leaders and their accounts must not be overdue at the time the payment is made.
  • If any of the incentive requirements cease to be met (for instance, if orders are returned or if there is non-payment by an LOA1 Representative) the Sales Leader’s account will be debited for any rewards already paid.
  • Sales Leaders are required to uphold the Avon Values and Sales Leadership Business Principles at all times, including in relation to this incentive and any rewards received by successful Sales Leaders by way of this incentive.
  • Avon reserves the right to disqualify Sales Leaders, withhold or cancel or, in cases where payment has already been made, requestfull repayment of any rewards received, in the event of non-compliance with these Terms and Conditions or if Avon deems, in its absolute discretion, there to have been any malpractice, or manipulation of results in order to achieve incentive levels, throughout the period of the incentive.
  • Avon expressly reserves the right to alter the incentive in any way, including cancelling or withdrawing the incentive altogether.
  • Successful Sales Leaders will be required to participate in any subsequent publicity as deemed appropriate by Avon.
  • By taking part in this incentive, participants are deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by other requirements set out in the promotional material. All matters including payments which are awarded shall be determined at Avon’s sole discretion and Avon’s decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.

It's simple and easy to set up, plus the benefits are great! Simply fill in the details asked and away you go.

Making the most of your Avon Personal Recruitment page

1. Check your profile picture

Make sure it is a nice friendly photo of yourself, preferably a head shot with only you in the picture. This shows you are professional, and of course nice enough to approach!

2. Add links to your social networking sites

Add all of your business links! This can be anything from Facebook to your personal website. This gives them a chance to see more about you.

3. Maximise your introduction text

Make sure to keep it short yet professional and friendly. Let them know why they should join your team and give them a vibe of the lovely person that you are! Be yourself.

4. Create and easy to remember website address

Search for 'Domain Names' online to find a domain host, choose an easy to remember website address and redirect your Personal Recruitment Page to it. Make sure to adhere to the advertising guidelines e.g. it cannot include the word 'Avon'. Ours is GailsReps and we make sure it's everywhere possible!

5. Share your Personal Recruitment page

Not only should you put your web page on social networks, but remember to include it on any printed materials you hand out like flyers and business cards! Spread the word of your link and if you've followed some of our tips on how to make the most out of it, every one will remember to visit!

Avon Conference Live Leadership 2014

It's a great feeling and incredible atmosphere when you get over 800 people in a room all there to celebrate the achievements of others and themselves.  Avon's Live Leadership didnt fail to deliver a spectacular event again this year.  And Award winning Avon Team GBR were there to celebrate with everyone in the room too!
